Now, in the past I have slated Faulty Towers for been a blot on the landscape, I even called it a dinosaur of a building. That view has not changed. What has changed is my perspective on the matter.
I was fortunate enough to have a guided tour of the views from the upper reaches of this building on a sunny day just to see what I was missing so to speak.
All I can say is that the views were spectacular, the apartments (London term for a flat) spacious, and the chief jailor (warden, manager, friend to the cockles and biggest fan of the building, or whatever she wants to be called) friendly and knowledgeable as she proudly showed me the sights to be had from Windsor House.
I often think of the wonderful views that the residents along the slopes at Tankerton have out to sea and the property price associated with their location. All I can say on the market value of flats in Windsor House for the views alone, they are worth a fortune. I just hope the council never let them reach the open market because they sure as hell won't be priced for the locals.
Most of us living in Whitstable can see Windsor House from one window or another in our property, but from the upper floors of Windsor House you can see every house in Whitstable. It was a fascinating experience on a glorious sunny Whitstable day to see the whole town from just one location. I now envy the residents as they view our town like no one else can.
Thanks for the tour Jane. I hope to do it again soon to pick up all the new developments that have sprung up in the past three years.
