Sunday 9th March 2006 saw the the combined forces of the British Army, Navy and American military descend on Whitstable castle to push back the invaders from London.
With the combined might of these once super powers, they held off the 4X4's approach into town for a full fifteen minutes till they could hold no more. The resulting offensive delayed the inevitable influx into the Gorrell Tank Carpark, but was unable to stop it completely!
Even with the Commander-in-Chief, Field Marshall Jeanne Harrison at the vanguard, the troops moral crumbled under the sheer weight of tourists and their retreat was only buoyed up by the fact that no lives had been lost in operation DFL. With more operations proposed later in the year, locals are encouraged to carry their CCC ID cards at all times so as not to be incarcerated in the tower as infiltrators.

Do you remember the saying "as straight as an arrow"? Well unfortunately Canterbury Council doesn’t!
Here are some photographs of the new direction arrows in the car park off Harbour Street. They look as though some of the local kids armed with cans of spray paint have been employed to help save our council money. Hopefully if this new plan continues, they will come up with enough cash to continue to help the Citizens Advice Bureau at St. Mary's.
This is the second time recently that road markings have been questioned. We read in our local papers that junction markings in Tankerton were causing concerns, as the new angled markings encourage cars turning into side roads, to cut the corner into possible oncoming traffic!



Next time you approach a junction take a close look at the road markings they may no longer represent equal road allocation.
