Congratulations to Rotary Club of Whitstable for providing Whitstable with it’s first Whitstable Races on Sunday 24 June 2007.
Even if it barely stopped raining all afternoon, it didn’t dampen the spirits of the hardy people that came to watch all the teams that took the time and effort to run in the races. Pat Marsh barely batted an eyelid when some of the jockeys announced the names of their horses when interviewed prior to each race. Ben Mills, of X Factor fame was on hand to present the runners and winners with their medals, cups and T-shirts.
Well done to all concerned for coming up with an idea that did not involve oysters or the sea, and gave all a great afternoon.
Whitstable Races 2008 will be held on Sunday 1st June, once again on Tankerton Slopes.
