Not your everyday web site!
Plonk went the mail this morning, and a liberal splattering of brown and white envelopes made me think that some of the bills had not been paid. But no; the majority was junk. Did I want even more double glazed windows? Would I like to insure my dog against vet bills in the future! What bloody dog?
Then I got to one from Canterbury Council asking if I would like to offer them suggestions and knowledge of Whitstable to enable them to build a giant floozy like the one inhabiting Herne Bay? My heart started to race, Canterbury Council asking me for advice, silly buggers! It was then that I noticed that it was addressed to me in a professional capacity rather than the author of a web site having a pop at everyone and everything.
A Geant (EU speak for Giant) of our own, whoopee do! Will it live locally, or travel down from London at the weekends? Will it have its very own ASBO? Or will it reflect the culture and history of this wonderful town?
Only one way to find out, and maybe have some input into the creation of 12’ bugger, and that’s to go down to the “Town Square” on Saturday and see what they have to say for themselves.
On a final note. How comes our Giant is only going to be 12’, when Joss the Margate Giant is 15’? Budget restrictions? Or just Whitstable being stiffed again by Canterbury Council!
I can’t wait, see you there!

Photos right, nabbed from the web.

After meeting the folks from Strange Cargo I now have a better understanding of giant anatomy!
Women giants tend to stand at about 12’, whereas gentlemen giants reach a whopping 15’ and it has nothing to do with funding, or Canterbury Council stiffing us!
Today was all about getting ideas from local people about whether the giant was going to be male or female, and how this giant would reflect the past, present & future of Whitstable.
Yes; 25k is a lot of money for a giant, but lets stop harping on about the cost as it has already been agreed. Instead, lets focus on how we can influence the builders, and help create a giant that shouts WHITSTABLE wherever it goes.
Building starts this week, and thanks to Strange Cargo, I have been invited to grab some photographs during construction at the castle, all I have to do now is wangle some time off work!
Maybe this is a great opportunity to get my daughter out with her camera during the school break, and get her to develop her skills, as she is thinking of taking up photography as a career in the future.
Visit the Strange Cargo site, and give them your idea’s, if you don’t, then keep quite about the outcome if its not to your liking!

The Whitstable Giant get’s a name.
