When on Monday 27 August we saw Andy Hessenthaler bring his Dover team to the Belmont, I for one thought this is where we get a stuffing. But no; with 1002 football fans watching, the Belmont ground came alive with good football. Our hopes were raised when at half time Whitstable went off with a score of 1-0.
Shortly into the second half Dover made a quick break that caught me and the goalkeeper on the hop. I missed the chance of taking the photo, and the goalkeeper missed his chance of catching the ball 1-1. Not to be outdone, Whitstable made a good break that culminated in the score going to 2-1. Then; the outcome of a free for all in the Whitstable area, Dover slotted in the final goal of the afternoon 2-2.
The Ref gave his yellow card a good airing this afternoon, but none looked iffy. A couple of hard tackles gave players a memento of the day to take home, but fortunately; unlike on Saturday, nobody had to be stretcherd off!
Some of the Dover supporters were surprised at the cost of entrance to the ground, along with the price of the programme and cups of tea. They said it was one of the cheapest grounds in the league. I said that may be so; but just trying buying a house here! All in all, bloody good football. Well done lads.
